Listen to this article

Blue Eagles, who are in the danger of an empty-handed season, host rookies Karonga United at Nankhaka Ground, Lilongwe today.

In this TNM Super League second round meeting, the cops have an eye on the second spot to keep pace with the leaders Moyale Barracks, who had 29 points before weekend assignments. Moyale face Red Lions today.

Having missed out on Carlsberg Cup and Standard Bank Knockout Trophy, the Eagles have the league and the Presidential Cup only to salvage something from the season.

Therefore, the league presents the De Klerk Msakakuona’s men with realistic prospects for silverware.

After all, the Eagles finished the first round on an impressive third place with 27 points and could jump to second if they find a way of outsmarting the rookies whose new coach Abbas Makawa.

However, the former Epac mentor Makawa too is determined to impress the new Karonga bosses. The new comers finished the first round second from the bottom on 10 points.

Karonga also faced Airborne Rangers yesterday in Chitowe, hence could come into the Nankhaka battle lesser fresh than the cops who have on paper a strong squad captained by winger John Banda.
